Citizens of Germany do not have a common opinion on whether the Angela Merkel should resign to the Chancellor of Germany, their opinions are divided almost equally, according to a poll conducted by the public opinion institute YouGov.
So, about 43% of respondents felt that Merkel should leave her post, and 42% – positively assess her work and do not see the need for resignation. At the same time, 15% of the respondents found it difficult to answer.
According to the results of the survey, Merkel’s supporters of the Green Party are most positive, and worst of all, supporters of the right-populist party Alternative for Germany (AdG). Among those who voted for AdG, only 6% would like to see Merkel as Chancellor of Germany.
Among those Germans who support the “left”, almost 50% are confident that Merkel is doing her job well as chancellor.
The attitude towards Merkel among the supporters of the alliance of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Christian-Social Union (CSU), which she heads, has been mixed. Thus, 27% of the supporters of the alliance believe that it is time for Merkel to step down as chancellor. Meanwhile, about 63% of the supporters of the CDU / CSU act in its favor.
About 30% of respondents fear that the government coalition may disintegrate due to disagreements in the sphere of illegal immigration. In turn, 45% are confident that the coalition of the CDU, CSU and the Social Democratic Party of Germany in the near future, nothing is threatened.
At the same time, half of the inhabitants of Germany maintain that the government coalition will probably not survive until the next elections, which will be held in 2021.
