Stella McCartney Gives Arsenal Women’s Away Kit a Stylish Update
Arsenal Women are stepping onto the field with a fresh look this season, thanks to a collaboration with British fashion icon Stella McCartney. The renowned designer has given the team’s 2023-24 away kit a vibrant makeover, marking a significant moment in the club’s history.
This striking kit, which includes a jersey, is the first women’s team-only kit in Arsenal’s storied history. It’s not just about fashion, though; the kit is designed to offer support both on and off the field.
The new away shirt features a fusion of eye-catching geometric patterns and bold color-blocked elements in halo pink and glow blue. Beyond aesthetics, it incorporates AEROREADY technology, employing moisture-wicking and absorbent materials to ensure the utmost comfort and dryness for players during intense matches.
In line with sustainable practices, several key pieces of the kit are crafted from a minimum of 47% recycled polyester and 100% organic cotton, aligning with adidas’ commitment to combating plastic waste.
One notable feature of this gender-neutral shirt is that it will be worn by Arteta’s Arsenal as a pre-match warm-up kit before their Premier League clash with Manchester City. This represents the first instance in the club’s history where the women’s team will have a distinct kit from their male counterparts.
Starting on September 28, this limited-edition collection will be available for purchase online at adidas.com, at Arsenal’s official club stores, and select retailers.
Arsenal striker Alessia Russo expressed her excitement about the new collection: “It’s so special to be marking this with a collection as playful and bold as this one. For me, football has always been about having fun and getting creative – it’s why I got into it as a young girl and it’s what inspires me today.”
Stella McCartney, the creative designer behind the kit, shared her inspiration: “Designing for a team that truly embodies what it takes to be an athlete and inspire the next generation of footballers has been incredibly special. It’s important that both players and fans alike can playfully express themselves as they move on and off the pitch, and we hope this bold, new collection can play a part in that.”
The Gunners will make their debut in the striking new kit when they face Manchester United in the Women’s Super League on October 8, promising an exciting and stylish start to the season.
