Indian Railways App for Unreserved Tickets : Indian Railways Minister Shri. Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu has launched a mobile application for unreserved paperless tickets on Wednesday. This was launched for test trial in 15 Stations under Southern Railways Zone Chennai and will be extended soon nation wide.
The Railway minister said that they are dedicated to “operation five minutes ” ticketing where the passenger can buy the unreserved ticket within five minutes. At present this facility is available in Egmore and Tambram Suburban stations of Chennai .
This application was developed by CRIS – Centre for Railway Information System and the main intention of developing this app is to eliminate the unreserved tickets printing and for a faster user experience in ticketing.
The Tickets Purchased under the paperless mode cannot be cancelled to prevent the passengers refund after the travel.
The application can be downloaded to your Android or Windows mobiles from the the Google play store or Windows Store.
You will get on screen alerts to help you in the process of booking unreserved tickets and the payments are done through Railway wallet in the App. After completion of booking process you can see a limited information about the booked tickets on screen.
They said “this will help you in saving more than 1200 metric tons of paper which was used to print the unreserved tickets , as more than 1 crore passengers travel through these unreserved tickets. ”
