On the journey of three countries of South-East Asia, Modi reached Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur on Thursday morning after a successful visit to Indonesia. Modi was welcomed at the Kuala Lumpur airport. In the first phase of the visit, there was a bilateral dialogue between Modi and President Vidodo in Indonesia and 15 agreements were signed.

PM Modi’s second trip to Malaysia

It is expected that during this visit, leaders of both countries will consider measures to deepen bilateral relations in various sectors including trade and investment. It is a special thing that this is Modi’s second visit to Malaysia. Before that, he has traveled to Malaysia in 2015.

Explain that the purpose of the Prime Minister, who has traveled to three countries, is to make India’s relationship more peaceful and strong in various important areas including defense and trade. Earlier, the External Affairs Ministry had said that PM Modi would stay in Kuala Lumpur on May 31 to meet the newly elected Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr. Mahatir Mohammed. Modi will meet with Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir in Pattaya. Pattaya is located approximately 30 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur.

India’s historic relationship with Malaysia

There is a warm relationship between India and Malaysia. There have been considerable historical relations between the two countries. Malaysia has long been a stronghold of Indians. A total of seven percent of the non-resident Indians live there. From a business point of view, the trade between the two countries was $ 10.5 billion in 2017. Mahathir Mohammed’s historic victory

Mahathir Mohammed (92) was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Malaysia on May 10. He led the opposition coalition which defeated the Barisan National (BN) coalition, which ruled from Malaysia in 1957, which has ruled for 61 years since independence on Malaysia. He achieved success in forming the government of the absolute majority in the parliament of Malaysia, out of the total 222 seats, his party won 122 seats.

Modi arrived in Indonesia in the first phase
